Swimming for Clean Water

Created By Amber Keegan

I've swam for my country... Now I'm swimming for our rivers and seas.

Together, myself and 7 other amazing people from the 4 corners of the UK, will be swimming over 200 km down the Thames, from its source to Westminster, to demand action around sewage pollution.

My life has been spent in and around the water. From Sheffield to swimming for Great Britain at two World Championships, the water is my home. But I've also got sick from swimming in the UK, can't safely access many of my local waterways because of sewage pollution.

Our rivers and seas should be one of the most accessible forms of benefitting our physical and mental health, but they aren't free right now - the cost is our health.

Water quality was an election issue. People are rightly angry about the state of their local water.

Now, more than any other time I can think of in recent history, we have the time to make real, lasting systemic change. This is why we are taking the message straight to Westminster that the public want change, they want cleaner waters, and they want to end sewage pollution for good.

Boring but important bits: I do now work for SAS, but I started working on the project (and decided they were the right charity for this swim) before my current job was even advertised! I just really realy love the work that SAS do - so much that I have fundraised for them, volunteered on this project, and now work for them too.

givestar is registered with the Fundraising Regulator and the Association of Charitable Organisations, and will send your donation directly to my chosen charity.
