My name is Stu Place and I'm a father from Melbourne, Australia, who like any parent, would go to the Moon and Back for my two children. My four-year-old son, Will, was born with a rare neurogenetic disorder, known only by its genetic location, SLC6A1. As his father, I've taken on the most important job of my life: to fight for a treatment that could save his life, and the lives of all children suffering this disease.
Our goal is to raise $768,800 for The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health in Australia - every dollar representing the distance in kilometres from Earth to the Moon and back.
This is a journey of love, determination, and hope. Starting on 1 December 2024, Stu Place will embark on a 50-day virtual cycling challenge, covering 15,451 kilometres - the distance from Melbourne to the town of Moon (in Oklahoma, USA) and the town of Back (in Texas, USA) - symbolising a parent's boundless and unconditional love.
