Walk the Walk has chosen givestar as it aims to invigorate fundraising across its calendar of events, including the well-known and regarded ‘Moonwalk’. Walk the Walk has raised over £139m for breast and other cancers since its inception.
The partnership represents an important trend, in modernising the way participants fundraise for traditional mass participation events - especially in a largely cashless world.
Guy Aubertin, Director of Fundraising at Walk the Walk, highlighted the importance of embracing new approaches to fundraising - givestar stood out due to a commitment to developing fundraising tools tailored for the digital fundraising landscape.
“One of the major challenges faced by fundraisers of charities like Walk the Walk in the modern era is the decline in the use of cash. Traditional fundraising activities such as coffee mornings and bake sales have become difficult to execute efficiently as people no longer carry cash. Additionally, adding cash as an offline donation has been a cumbersome process.”
givestar addresses this with Boost Donate - a powerful technology that allows fundraisers to take card payments directly through their phone via the givestar app.
