Platform User Terms & Conditions

TapTap Giving Ltd, trading as givestar, and hereafter referred to as givestar, is a provider of charity-focused technologies and services that allow like-minded people to connect not just with the charities they support but also with fellow charity fundraisers, enabling them to build and explore wider fundraising communities.

These Terms of Service (the "Terms") govern your use of the givestar platform, features, apps, services, technologies, and software we offer (the "Platform"), except where we expressly state that separate terms (and not these) apply.

We do not charge you to use the givestar platform and fundraising services covered by these Terms unless stated otherwise. Our fundraising platform and services allow you to connect with charities, your friends, and the wider fundraising community, as well as to receive personalised fundraising content relevant to your fundraising interests. By using our platforms, you acknowledge and accept that we will promote fundraising campaigns that we believe may be of interest to you. To achieve this, we track and use your fundraising history to help determine which campaigns to show you.

We do not sell your personal data, nor do we share information that directly identifies you (such as your name, email address, or other contact information) with any third parties, except for the charities you have elected to support or follow.

Our Privacy Policy explains how we collect and use your personal data to determine which fundraising campaigns you may be shown and to provide the other services described below. You can also visit your settings page within the givestar platform at any time to review your privacy choices and how we use your data.

1. The Services We Provide

The givestar platform is designed to allow fundraisers to connect with charities and to join and expand a community of like-minded individuals, working towards the mission of raising more money for more charities in an increasingly cashless society. To help advance this mission, we provide the following platform and services to you:

Provide a Personalised Experience for You

Your experience on givestar is unique, with fundraising ideas, stories, posts, and other information presented to you based on your preferences and fundraising history as you use the app. For example, we use data about the charity and fundraising connections you make, the choices and settings you select, and your activity both on and off our platforms to personalise your experience.

Connect You with Charities and People That You Care About

We help you find and connect with charities and people who share your views. We use data to make suggestions for you – for example, charities to join and fundraising events to attend. Stronger connections create better communities, and we believe that our services are most useful when people engage with groups and charities they care about.

Help You Discover Charities, Groups, and Fundraisers That May Interest You

We show you content based on your preferences and past fundraising participation. Our promoted content allows you to discover like-minded groups or individuals who share your passion for a fundraising cause or invite you to join a fundraising event that aligns with your charity preferences.

Empower You to Express Yourself and Communicate About What Matters to You

There are many ways to express yourself on givestar and communicate with friends, family, and others about what matters to you. You can share status updates, photos, videos, and stories; send messages; create events or groups; and add content to your profile. We also provide insights into how others engage with your content.

Provide Fundraising Tools to Allow You to Collect Donations for Your Favourite Charities

The givestar platform allows you to create various fundraising methods, from collecting donations using our Tap To Pay technology on your smartphone to setting up a more traditional online giving page that can be shared through the site or other social media.

Research Ways to Make Our Services Better

We engage in research to develop, test, and improve our platforms. This includes analysing data about our users and understanding how people use our platforms, such as by conducting surveys and testing and troubleshooting new features. Our Privacy Policy explains how we use data to support this research for the purpose of developing and improving our services.

2. How Our Services Are Funded

givestar does not charge you for the use of its platforms. We work with charities directly, offering them our services, and in some cases, these services are chargeable.

givestar works with payment partners to provide the functionality for fundraisers and donors to donate through the platform. Platform fees may be levied for some of the services offered.

3. Your Commitments

3.1 Who Can Use Givestar

As you will be using the platform to coordinate your fundraising activities, we need to confirm your identity. Therefore, you must:

  • Provide your real name as you use in everyday life for your account.
  • Provide accurate information about yourself.
  • Only create one account (your own) and use it for personal purposes.
  • Not share your password, give access to your givestar account to others, or transfer your account without our permission.

Givestar is available to everyone, but you cannot use givestar if:

  • You are under 13 years old.
  • We have previously disabled your account for breaches of our Terms.
  • You are prohibited from receiving our platforms, services, or software under applicable laws.

3.2 What You Can Share and Do on Givestar

We want people to use givestar to develop a real fundraising community, communicate with fellow fundraisers, and share content. However, it is important that any communications or content posted on the site do not compromise the safety and well-being of others or the integrity of the community. You therefore agree not to engage in the following conduct (or facilitate or support others in doing so):

  • Breaching these Terms or the Community Standards.
  • Posting unlawful, misleading, discriminatory, or fraudulent content.
  • Sharing content that you do not own or have the necessary rights to distribute.
  • Uploading viruses or malicious code, using the services to send spam, or interfering with the operation of our services.

We reserve the right to remove content that breaches these provisions and to suspend or disable accounts as necessary.

4. Additional Provisions

4.1 Updating Our Terms

We continually strive to improve our services and may update these Terms to reflect new features, regulatory requirements, or changes in business practices. We will notify you at least thirty days before making any significant changes unless the update is required by law.

4.2 Account Suspension or Termination

If we determine that you have seriously or repeatedly breached our Terms, we may suspend or permanently disable your account. We will notify you of such actions unless prohibited for legal reasons.

4.3 Limits on Liability

We do not exclude or limit liability for death, personal injury, or fraudulent misrepresentation caused by our negligence. Otherwise, we do not accept responsibility for losses that are beyond our reasonable control.

4.4 Disputes

Any claims or disputes arising from your use of the givestar platform will be resolved in the courts of your main residence under applicable laws. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between you and givestar regarding your use of our platforms and supersede any prior agreements.
