🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 Charity Hitchhike to GLASGOW 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿Hello! This year I am taking part in BABY BUMMIT, the biggest charity hitchhike in the UK. On the 8th November, myself, my housemate Millie and over 200 other students will have 1 DAY to get from Sheffield, all the way to Glasgow. To do this, we will be relying completely on the kindness of strangers for lifts to help us reach our destination!BUMMIT is the world’s largest student-organised charity hitchhike and, in collaboration with Sheffield RAG (Raising And Giving), I am raising money for four amazing charities:<ul><li>The Snowdrop Project: a South Yorkshire-based charity providing long-term holistic support to survivors of human trafficking and modern slavery. Their main work focuses around Casework &amp; befriending, Counselling, Community activities, House renovations, Training and Policy work &amp; Partnerships. This project exists to ensure that no survivor of trafficking has to rebuild their life alone. Last year they supported 124 survivors with the practical and emotional support they needed to move on from the trauma of their past.</li><li>Cavendish Cancer Care: an independent charity funded almost entirely by the generosity of the local public, offering support to those diagnosed or recovering from cancer, as well as to friends and family members affected. They are proud to work in an integrated way with NHS partners to help support patients and their families, but they are not an NHS organisation.</li><li>SAGE Sheffield: supporting adults whose lives have been affected by mental illness through Support (deliver well developed therapeutic support tailored for and with individuals, and also provide support through support groups beyond the wider SAGE community); Arts (use creativity as a vehicle for building self-esteem, confidence and experiment with new ways of connecting with nature, mapping progress over time and celebrating our differences); Gardening (support people through horticultural therapy by spending time outdoors, connecting with nature and with people), and Education (facilitate learning exchanges between members, staff and volunteers around mental health support, and share expertise in areas of horticulture and mental health with the wider community).</li><li>Urban Roots: a Glasgow-based charity addressing local environmental concerns, such as conservation, biodiversity and healthier eating. They work with local people of all ages and ablities to improve the environment and health of communities. ​In schools, community spaces, gardens and woodlands across the Southside of Glasgow, Urban Roots provides locals time to connect with people, build relationships and celebrate the seasons.</li></ul>Every little bit counts, and your contribution will go towards making a positive impact in the lives of those in need.Thank you so much for your support, let’s make a difference together!
