Hello!This year I am attempting to get from Sheffield to Porto through as much hitchhiking as possible with my friends Maddie and Khumo. This is part of the Big Bummit fundraiser. It should be a good way to meet some random people and save some carbon compared to flying.I&#x27;m also doing it to help some great Sheffield based charities (more below). Any support would be greatly appreciated for this fun challenge for charity.Weston Park Cancer CharityWeston Park Cancer Charity supports those living with cancer and their loved ones. They offer a wide range of support services and activities to make life during and after cancer that bit easier for people.The Snowdrop ProjectThe snowdrop project is a South Yorkshire based charity that provides long-term holistic support to empower survivors of human trafficking in the UK to recover from their past and rebuild their future. Their main work focuses around Casework &amp; befriending, Counselling, Community activities, House renovations, Training and Policy work &amp; partnerships (having spoken in parliament to encourage systematic change in the past!)Ben&#x27;s CentreBen’s Centre provides a safe place for those who suffer substance abuse. It is the only damp centre in Sheffield which means that individuals can access support whilst they are under the influence.SAYiTSAYiT is a charity offering wellbeing support to young LGBTQ+ people in Sheffield. They work with young people aged 8-25 offering a range of support.Banco Alimentar Contra a FomeBanco Alimentar Contra a Fome is a national food bank organisation and is one of the most important social support organisations in Porto.They help other social and non-private organisations by providing them with food to be distributed amongst local communities.Their Porto based food bank supports 55,000 people across Porto.

Hey, This year I am taking part in Baby Bummit, the biggest charity hitchhike in the UK. On the 9th November myself and over 200 others, will have 1 day to get from Sheffield all the way to Cardiff. To do this we will be relying completely on the kindness of strangers for lifts.This year we are supporting:S6 Foodbank - The S6 Foodbank provides emergency food and essentials to those who need it most, working on a referral basis local people are given a minimum 3 days nutritionally balanced emergency food and support.Hope For the Future - Hope for the Future is a climate charity which works to equip communities, groups and individuals across the country to communicate the urgency of climate change with their local politicians.Shout - Shout is the UK's first and only free, confidential, 24/7 text messaging support service for anyone who is struggling to cope with their mental health.Sheffield Young Carers - Dedicated to supporting young carers and young&nbsp;people affected by drug and alcohol issues in their family.To find out more check out: https://bummit.union.shef.ac.uk/
