<div>Www.JustGiving.com/page/amy-speed-2</div><div><br></div>I'm taking on the London Marathon 2026!<div><br><div>As the least speedy Speed in the family, this is going to be a big challenge for me. I won't be rivalling my Dad's 2:57 at the London Marathon 36 years ago, but I am very excited to follow in his and my sister's footsteps by taking on the London course!</div><div><br></div><div>I'm running for Thames Valley Air Ambulance — the incredible people who help people in the most critical condition in their time of need.&nbsp;</div><div>T.V.A.A. were the wonderful people who came out to our family to help my Dad in the final hours of his life. We are so grateful that they, along with my wonderful Mum, gave him the best chance possible. We are equally grateful that we had such kind, compassionate people there to help us in the hours after they stopped treatment.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>You don't expect to be in a situation like we were a few days before Christmas 2024, but when you are, it's people like the T.V.A.A. team that you want there for you. You only need to look at the social media pages of T.V.A.A. to see how many lives they have transformed and saved by their vital work, all of which happens from a team of volunteers and donations.</div><div>My Dad (Buzz to us) was a great runner. He completed many, many marathons, Ultra marathons, and fun runs in his time. He ran for Finch Coasters Running Club who have so kindly set up a series of summer runs in his memory — something he would have loved.</div><div>Running is one of his many legacies that he's left to all the Speeds, with my Mum, my sister, and even my 4-year-old niece all loving running because of him. I only started being consistent with running last April (after previously hating it so much that I would check myself into ambulances at the end of runs), but I am so glad I did, and Buzz got to see me get into running.&nbsp;</div><div><br></div><div>We had some lovely runs together last summer and would often discuss routes with Buzz being a master of all the running trails around Windsor Great Park (I have been getting very lost without him there now!). A few weeks before Buzz died, I ran my first (and only so far) marathon in Nashville, Tennessee. It was slow... but Buzz was so proud, and would tell people I was a "runner". That was a bit optimistic given how slow I was, but it was lovely to hear.</div><div><br></div><div>So, at the same age as Buzz was when he ran his PB at the London Marathon in 2 hours and 57 minutes, I am taking it on. I certainly won't be running anything speedy like him, but I think he would be really excited about this.</div><div>Any donations you can give to help me along my way would be massively appreciated. T.V.A.A. are doing vital work saving lives and helping people in their hour of need daily.
