Karolina's Bio
Karolina, also known as Caroline, has Usher syndrome, a condition affecting both hearing and sight, which began deteriorating at the age of 19. Karolina aspires to become the first deafblind person to summit Mt. Everest!
While both a deaf person and a blind person have previously reached the summit, it is uncertain if anyone who is deafblind has accomplished this feat. Karolina aims to undertake this challenge before losing her sight completely. With time ticking away, she has decided that it’s now or never. As a student with limited finances and connections, this dream feels incredibly ambitious. However, the belief is that the effort is worth it. This is more than Karolins's personal mission. It is an opportunity to raise awareness and foster a better understading of deafblindness, and document the training process with the Nepalese people, who will be integral to this journey.
