<p>Since this photo was taken last year a lot of water has flowed under the bridge... </p><p>...At the time of the run one of my best friends, Sharon, was living with a brain tumour diagnosis, one of my friends, Mat, had recently died from a brain tumour and I didn&#x27;t have an 8&quot; scar down my chest.</p><p>...Since then Sharon has unfortunately died and I have been very fortunate to have diagnosed and treated by having a heart valve replaced.</p><p></p><p>The common factor in all 3 was the wonderful care received from the QE Hospital in Birmingham. What was very apparent in my interaction with the hospital is how many beneficial services are provided by voluntary funding... amazingly this not only includes niceties but also essential services such as Cardio-Rehabilitation.</p><p>The Brain Tumour and BHF charities provide much needed additional information, services and support and I have put in place a one third split of all donations to each.</p><p></p><p>Thank you for any donation that you can give - very much appreciated.</p>

<div><span style="font-size: 1em;">This idea originally came to light in 2021 following the death of one of my colleagues and friends, Roddy Wilkie. Roddy was one of those people that you never forget and I frequently use as a reference point because of his attitude to life, work, fun and fairness.&nbsp;</span></div><div><span style="font-size: 1em;"><br></span></div><div><span style="font-size: 1em;">It's taken a few years to come to fruition for one reason or another but eventually it's done.&nbsp;</span></div><div><span style="font-size: 1em;">The ride started at HKA London Office (my office) and finished at our Glasgow office (Roddy's office) - going a route that meet with friends, family and colleagues, some of whom rode for a few hours with me, some giving me a bed for the night, meeting me for coffee, lunch or a great night out of dinner and drinks.</span><br></div><div>I started the ride on the evening of Thursday 9 May and have just completed the ride on Sunday 19 May.</div><div><br></div><div>For the statisticians... the ride was 960km long over 10 days, involved 8,500m of ascent (and fortunately descent too) and was just over 55 hours in the saddle.&nbsp;</div>
