Thanks for checking out my fundraising page. I’m running Athens marathon on November 10th 2024, it’ll be my first ever marathon and I’m raising money for two causes I care deeply about.Why Athens?It’s the OG. In 490BC Athenian courier Pheidippides ran from the site of the battle of marathon to Athens with the message of Nike (‘Victory’) before promptly collapsing and dying. Inspired by Pheidippides, 2500 years later the first marathon was held at the inaugural modern Olympics in Athens, 1896. I’m excited and daunted to trace the steps of Pheidippides, I’m hoping for a less definitive ending!!A bit about my charities:Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) stop people from committing suicide. Shockingly we lose 18 people to suicide every single day in the UK. Poor mental health is something I’m familiar with and I’ve felt the devastation of someone close ending their life - knowing that an understanding ear can make a difference between life and death is why CALM’s work is essential.In the UK 77% of disabled children aren’t able to access regular leisure facilities. In Bristol, Gympanzee provides a world of fun and fitness for disabled children and their families, taking them out of isolation through exercise, play and friendship. Having recently acquired a new permanent building, Gympanzee need funds to equip the facility. This will be a game changer for hundreds of families.If you can donate any amount I’ll be incredibly grateful and humbled.
