In April, I will be attempting to hitchhike from Sheffield, England, to Bratislava, Slovakia. Many survivors of trafficking face significant barriers to rebuilding their lives, including housing insecurity, trauma and lack of employment opportunities.CITY OF SANCTUARY SHEFFIELD (https://sheffield.cityofsanctuary.org/)City of Sanctuary Sheffield is a local charity dedicated to creating a welcoming and supportive environment for asylum seekers and refugees. The organization operates The Sanctuary, a hub in the city center where people seeking refuge can access vital services.

On the 23rd, I&#x27;ll be hitchhiking with my teammates Aletta and Harry from Sheffield to Porto in a week. This is the Big Bummit with the Bummit Hitch-Hiking Society at the University of Sheffield. The 5 charities involved are:Weston Park Cancer Charity: Weston Park Cancer Charity supports those living with cancer and their loved ones. Weston Park Cancer Charity also plays a crucial role through their support of research and clinical trials.The Snowdrop Project: The snowdrop project is a South Yorkshire based charity that provides long-term holistic support to empower survivors of human trafficking in the UK to recover from their past and rebuild their future.Ben’s Centre: Ben’s Centre provides a safe place for those who suffer substance abuse. It is the only damp centre in Sheffield which means that individuals can access support whilst they are under the influence.SAYiT: SAYiT is a charity offering wellbeing support to young LGBTQ+ people in Sheffield. They work with young people aged 8-25 offering a range of support.Banco Alimentar Contra a Fome: Banco Alimentar Contra a Fome is a national food bank organisation and is one of the most important social support organisations in Porto.They help other social and non-private organisations by providing them with food to be distributed amongst local communities.Their Porto based food bank supports 55,000 people across Porto.
