My fabulous team and I have one day to make it up to Edinburgh from Sheffield.We are fundraising for some wonderful charities, information about which can be found below:Our charities for Baby Bummit to Edinburgh are:ASSIST Support individuals who have been unsuccessful in their asylum applications. Many of the individuals ASSIST helps have escaped the unimaginable horrors of war, violence and persecution How they help: they offer emergency accommodation, welfare benefits, assistance in community integration e.g. learning English, local activism. https://www.assistsheffield.org.uk ROUNDABOUT South Yorkshire homeless youth charity. Aims to help bring stability into homeless youth’s lives They do this by: homeless prevention services e.g. mediation with youth and their families, accommodation in hostels, help with transition to independent living, tenancy support 350 bed spaces that they offer and they have been full every night of 2024 so far. Looking to expand this service. https://homeless.org.uk/homeless-england/service/roundabout/ SHEFFIELD WOMENS AID SWA are a small Sheffield based charity who solely focus on housing women and children from anywhere in the UK who need a place of safety They have been providing emergency accommodation for women and children who have suffered and survived domestic and sexual abuse and violence https://www.sheffieldwomensaid.org.uk Simon Community Scotland Homelessness charity dedicated to meeting people where they are. Whether they are homeless or at risk of homelessness they support with finding people safe, reliable homes but ensure that the cause of homelessness is tackled at the root. Eleanor's Charity Hitchhike to Edinburgh

Hi! I&#x27;m hitchhiking across Europe to Ljubljana, Slovenia with big Bummit to raise money for five charities that are doing great things in Sheffield and Ljubljana. Over the first week of April I will be attempting to traverse a distance greater than 1800km to get from Sheffield to Ljubljana with my teammates Jack and Orlando.Bummit is the world’s largest, student-led charity hitchhiking group, and has been run independently by students from the University of Sheffield since 2003. All money raised will be divided equally between the following charities: • Assist Sheffield is a movement to build a welcoming culture for people seeking sanctuary and providing hospitality • Broomhall Homework Club provides a space for young people in one of the most deprived areas of Sheffield to access computers and support with their studies • Legebirta is a Slovenia based charity providing accessible, confidential and professional services offering support and empowerment to LGBT individuals, communities and people living with HIV • Roundabout is a local youth housing charity providing shelter, support and life skills to young people aged 16-25 who are homeless or at risk of homelessness• 10 years ago Bummit helped fund the opening of Magnolia House, which supports families of sick children being treated at Sheffield Children&#x27;s Hospital by giving them somewhere to stay just minutes from their seriously ill child&#x27;s hospital beside. This house now needs renovations and The Sick Children&#x27;s Trust reached out to our amazing Bummit community for support.
