On the 15th September 2024 I will be lacing up to run the sydney marathon and raising money for 2 causes close to my heart and the hearts of my freinds and Family.My first charity I will be running for is Leukaemia Care. Ill be running for this charity for my Nan who is battling blood cancer and anyone else effected by this illness. For over 50 years, They have been dedicated to ensuring that everyone affected by Blood cancer receives the best possible diagnosis, information, advice, treatment and support. They are there for everyone affected by leukaemia and related blood cancer types.They believe in improving lives and being a force for change. Without organisations like this people wouldnt have the support , information or understanding while they are going through the hardest of times. My second charity is The Matt Hampson Foundation for the great work they do with one of my dearest freinds David and other people suffering serious injury or disability. The Foundation offers expert physiotherapy and specialised personal training from its state-of-the-art gym as well as wellbeing support and nutrition and health advice.Building a sense of community is central to the Matt Hampson Foundation. In the aftermath of an incident which leads to a life-changing injury, most people and their families feel isolated with an overwhelming sense of loss for what has been taken away from them.By becoming part of the community that Matt has created, beneficiaries are able to draw on the experience and knowledge of people who have been on the same journey. They develop the tools and skills they need to move on as they start to rebuild their lives. The Centre becomes a place where they can be part of a strong and active social scene as they retrain themselves to focus on what they can do – not what they can’t.Eventually beneficiaries progress to the point where they become the ones providing the support to others. This in itself is a huge part of their rehabilitation and being able to help others provides a real sense of purpose and identity. I have first hand seen the amazing work this charity has done in helping such wonderful peoples lives.
