This year I’m taking on the Tough Mudder 15 kilometer challenge and I’m excited to share that I’m not doing it alone! I’ve assembled an incredible team of family and friends to tackle this mighty obstacle course together. While one person can make a small difference as a team we believe anything is possible.The mighty mudders consists of ; Nick Henderson, Adam Evans, Ryan Hood, Jack Hood, Aimee Epton, Raymond Demarco, Vince Demarco, Vic Demarco, Greig Demarco, Shaun Demarco, Jack Demarco and myself.However, there’s more to this challenge than just pushing ourselves physically. We are running in support of the Williams Syndrome Foundation, a cause that has become incredibly close to my heart. My beautiful daughter Luna was diagnosed with Williams syndrome in 2023. Before her diagnosis I had never heard of this rare condition.Williams syndrome is a rare genetic disorder that occurs randomly and affects approximately one in 18,000 people in the UK. It is caused by a deletion of genetic material on chromosome 7, which leads to developmental delays, cardiovascular issues and unique characteristics like a highly social and empathetic nature. For Luna this means that while she is thriving in many ways she also faces challenges that require ongoing support and care.In addition to developmental delays children with Williams syndrome may struggle with learning difficulties, spatial awareness and physical coordination. Heart problems particularly involving the blood vessels are also common which means regular medical care and monitoring are essential. Despite these challenges children like Luna have remarkable personalities with a zest for life and a deep love for those around them.The Williams Syndrome Foundation does amazing work providing vital support, respite and a caring community for individuals living with WS and their families. They’ve been a lifeline for us offering guidance and understanding at a time when we needed it most. We want to help them continue their incredible work by raising awareness and funds.We’re asking for your help!
