We are 11 men on a mission to raise as much money (and awareness) as possible for an incredible charity, Mesothelioma UK. Mesothelioma UK is the national charity for anyone affected by mesothelioma - a rare, incurable cancer caused by exposure to asbestos.On Saturday 12th July 2025 we will be taking part (and completing!) The Hallow 12 Parish Challenge!! A marathon hike (26.2 miles) across Hallow and surrounding parishes.Our team:Ryan Scandrett, Aaron Pick, Anthony Joseph, Daniel Mcginley, James Dugmore, Karl Moore, Liam Scandrett, Mark Sheldon, Robert Wheeler, Stephen Colley, Matthew Grifferty.This charity is vitally important to those affected by mesothelioma. Ryan&#x27;s wife, Emily-Jane, was diagnosed with mesothelioma on 31st October 2023 at the age of 40. She suffered 17 months of unimaginable pain that started at the beginning of her pregnancy... She received a terminal cancer diagnosis when their baby, Thomas, was 9 months old.Mesothelioma UK exists to support people with mesothelioma to live better and live longer and to prevent mesothelioma happening to future generations. They do this by advocating for better treatment and care, enhancing quality of life, supporting research and amplifying the patient’s voice.They provide access to specialist nurses at the point of need, in local hospitals across the UK. Mesothelioma Clinical Nurse Specialists provide a large range of benefits including; specialist expertise available to patients, increased access to clinical trials, an increase in the number of patients accessing treatment, a lower rate of unplanned admissions, better management of symptoms and an overall increase in the quality of life for patients.Please help us in our endeavour to raise as much money and awareness as possible!!... My name is Emily-Jane and I&#x27;m 40 years old. On 31st October 2023 (Halloween!) I was given the devastating diagnosis of Pleural Mesothelioma. A rare, incurable cancer caused by exposure to asbestos!It has taken a while to accept that this is really happening to me, especially as I am newly married and blessed with 2 adorable young sons and a lovely young stepdaughter.I am so grateful for the overwhelming amount of love and support received from friends and family. In addition, I will be eternally thankful to two particular charities... Mesothelioma UK and Asbestos Support Central England, who have been a wonderful source of help and support during my journey.On Saturday 6th July my husband (Ryan) and I will be completing a walking marathon across Worcestershire! The &#x27;Hallow 12 Parish Challenge&#x27; starts in the picturesque village of Hallow, we will walk through the parishes of Hallow, Grimley, Little Witley, Hillhampton, Shrawley, Astley and Dunley, Abberley, Great Witley, Shelsley Beauchamp, Martley, Wichenford and Broadheath! - gosh I feel tired just typing this!!Your kind sponsorship donations will not only go towards helping raise awareness of this rare type of cancer, which is slowly on the increase but also enable further desperately needed research and development to continue.Lots of loveEmily-Jane and my ever so supportive husband, Ryanx x
