In September I will be running the Jordan Ultra X (5 marathons in 5 days across the desert in Jordan) to raise money for MacMillan, a charity very close to my heart after losing my mum to cancer a few months ago.

After being diagnosed with stage 4 ovarian cancer completely out of the blue my mum, Elizabeth, passed away in September following a ~10 month battle with cancer.

Without a prognosis and lack of clarity around what the future looked like, this was an extremely difficult, uncertain and confusing time.

Unfortunately, my mum had an aggressive form of cancer that had spread extensively and all treatment was unsuccessful. End-of-life care became the only option and my family and I cared for my mum at home until she passed away.

Navigating this time was the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do and being able to speak to health care professionals at MacMillan for advice, clarity and support throughout was extremely helpful and a great comfort at times and I will forever be grateful for the volunteers and the incredible work they do.

September will be 1 year on from my mum’s death and I want to give myself a new kind of challenge and do something she would be proud of (despite her probably thinking I’d gone mad) whilst raising money for a truly important cause. Any donations would be greatly appreciated!
