Project Salt Run is a running challenge starting on 25th October 2025 aimed at traversing the 4,030 km of the Inland Customs Line in India and finishing at my Dad's childhood home in Calcutta by completing 100 marathons in 100 days.
I am not an Athlete, simply someone who wants to show that we can all do something outside of our comfort zone to help those that need it the most.
This project seeks to raise £1,000,000 for 1% for the Planet, to support those most affected by Climate Change.
HOW AM I FUNDRAISING?
I am looking to fundraise in three different ways:
- The PSR 100: 100 U.K Businesses that are prepared to join and donate £10,000 to 1% for the Planet this year.
- Project Sponsors: Individuals or Businesses that want to donate towards the £1 Million target for 1% For the Planet.
- Expedition Funders: Individuals or Businesses that will help fund the costs associated with this adventure, including daily vlogs, a documentary and allowing the team that is supporting Hannah to be paid a living wage as part of their involvement. (If you want to do this, best way is email hello@projectsaltrun.com)
WHAT IS THE INLAND CUSTOMS LINE?
The old inland customs line was built in 1869 to enforce a salt tax in Indai. Within several years, a famine engulfed India and its belived between 6 - 10 million Indians died as a result of this and other poor policies by the British Government.
Project Salt run represents the importance oof remembering that by consuming and taking more then we need, we affect the ability of future generations to meet their needs.
WHAT IS MY BACKGROUND?
I am the Founder of the Better Business Network (“BBN”). BBN is an inclusive network for purpose-driven business owners and leaders who want to grow their businesses and make the world a better place.
I wanted to create a business network that focused on collaboration over competition because I believe that sharing best practices and resources is the key to success.
I believe all businesses have the responsibility to care for people and the planet, whatever their size. I also run betternotstop, a sustainable impact agency.
BBN and betternotstop are 1% for the Planet business members, and I strongly advocated for UK SMEs to join the movement.
WHAT IS 1% FOR THE PLANET?
1% for the Planet is a global movement inspiring businesses to support environmental solutions through annual membership and everyday actions. We accelerate smart environmental giving by advising on giving strategies, certifying donations and amplifying the impact of our network.
Our over 4,872+ business members support more than 7,265+ approved environmental partners by donating the equivalent of 1% of sales through a combination of monetary, in-kind and approved promotional expenses. We guide and support this giving and provide credible third-party certification. To date, our members have given over $672+ million USD to environmental partners since 2002.
