In May 2025 I will be completing a 16 day hike through the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp, to raise funding for Alzheimer's Research UK. The trek climbs 9,627 feet to a highest point of 18,188 ft. I am so excited to get started with this challenge, push my limits and raise money for a cause close to my heart.
In the UK, 1 in 3 people will develop Alzheimer's in their lifetime. My grandfather, Terry (above), was diagnosed with vascular dementia and Alzheimer's 2 years ago. Until this time he was greatly admired for his intellect, confidence and inspirational conversation. Today he is barely able to make himself understood, often doesn't know what day it is and his beloved home-library is left untouched. It is heartbreaking to watch a family member lose so much of themselves, knowing there is nothing we can do to help.
That is why, I will be joining the University of St Andrews team and Endeavours Adventures in this challenge, with the collective target of raising £40,000 to fund research and provide hope for the fight against this devastating condition.
Every donation, no matter how small, brings us closer to a world where memories, identities, hopes and dreams can live longer. Thank you in anticipation for giving towards this cause.❤️
