Herts Baseball Club is hosting an activity-packed day of baseball and fundraising at Grovehill ballpark in Hemel Hempstead on Sunday 2nd June, as it aims to turn one of the most important dates in the American baseball calendar – Lou Gehrig Day – into an international fight against Motor Neurone Disease.
Herts Baseball Club is inviting local residents, sports fans, and members of the MND community to join its Lou Gehrig Day activities, run by players and volunteers from the club. This will include an opportunity for those new to the sport to try their hand at batting and pitching, as well as a charity raffle, bake sale, American-themed barbecue, and Ice Bucket Challenge, with all proceeds going to UK charity, The Motor Neurone Disease Association.
Major League Baseball clubs across North America unite every 2nd June to honour former New York Yankees star player, Lou Gehrig, whose career and life were tragically cut short by the devastating neurodegenerative disease. Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is the most common form of Motor Neurone Disease and is widely known as ‘Lou Gehrig's Disease’ in the United States.
Herts Baseball Club, aims to play its part and inspire other British and international baseball clubs, players, and fans to unite in the global fight against Motor Neurone Disease.
Whether you can attend, donate online, or volunteer your time and resources, your contribution will make a meaningful impact in the fight against MND.
