Ironman 70.3 Austria

Created By Barney Hughes

I will be attempting to complete an Ironman 70.3 (half Ironman) in Austria on September 1st to raise money for 2 charities that mean ever so much to me: Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY) and Mind.

I’ve chosen CRY in honour of one of my dearest friends, Sam, simply one of the best, who we sadly lost last December. I will always be grateful for the memories we made, and will forever hold him dear in my heart. 12 young people suddenly die from undiagnosed heart conditions every week in the UK. CRY works to reduce the frequency of these tragedies, to support young people living with a diagnosis and provide support to bereaved families.

I've chosen Mind due to their brilliant work in promoting issues around mental health, campaigning for change and providing support to countless people who need it. Having seen first-hand the severe impact of mental illness on individuals affected and on those around them, the work that Mind do means a great deal to me.

An ironman 70.3 is a triathlon consisting of a 1.9km swim, 90km bike and 21.1km run, or 70.3 miles in total. Your support and any donations are massively appreciated!
