Voluntary Action Swindon were saddened to hear of the recent passing of Joe Backshell. Joe was a well respected member of the local community, including in his local area of Penhill where he was the areas first Community Development Worker.
Terry Johnson from VAS - 'I worked with Joe many years ago and it was through his insight and understanding of issues around inclusion that made me feel that as a sector we should always strive to be more inclusive and adjust our practices to better serve the community of Swindon. He was truly inspiration, and his death is a great loss to all. The ripple that he created can still be felt and I believe Swindon is a much more inclusive place due his efforts.'
As requsted by Joe's family, all donations from this fundraising page will be used for activities within the Swindon area.
