I've chosen three wonderful charities to fundraise for. They will each receive an equal share of the total raised. They are three very different charities, but their hearts are in the same place, they all strive to make the world a better place for everyone and everything.
The first is If U Care Share, a non-profit organization located in Chester-le-Street. They are dedicated to saving lives, supporting communities, and preventing suicide through prevention methods and helping those bereaved by suicide. Their team reaches some of the most vulnerable people in society to support them at a time of need. They also believe that educating future generations is key to changing cultures. This is why they also offer workshops to primary, secondary, and educational establishments to equip our young people.
The second is Candy's Hound Rescue. They rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome hounds and other dog breeds from the meat trade, unethical breeding programs, illegal racetracks, and other terrible situations from countries with little or no animal protections.
They strive to give these dogs as long, happy, and healthy a life as possible while educating people to end animal cruelty.
Last but definitely not least is Refugee Action, a charity I believe is extremely important during a time of hatred and fearmongering in today's political systems. Refugees are fleeing a number of things: war, persecution, violence, and terror in their home countries, but they also face hatred, isolation, and destitution when they arrive in the UK. So many challenges face refugees and people seeking asylum right here in the UK – and that’s why Refugee Action exists. They give expert advice and guidance to those struggling to navigate the failing and unfair asylum system. They help those with refugee status settle into their new homes and communities—everything from helping children into schools, supporting booking doctors’ appointments, and ensuring they get a hot meal when they arrive. They support people who suffer from violent attacks or other hate crimes, ensuring they know their rights and get the help they need. They campaign for change, collaborating with those who have direct experience of the systems we are working to improve.
Donate a quid, share it on your socials, tell your mate, it all helps, gan on then get it done.
Thank-you,
Owen.
