Being the charitable fiend I am (hehe), i've decided to move on from fundraising endevours, and onto Big Bummit, the biggest charity hitchhike in the UK!!!
"What will Big Bummit entail Himmat?!!?" I hear you cry, well im glad you asked...
On the 7th to the 14th April, myself and 2 others (S/O John and James) will have 8 days to get from Sheffield all the way to Bratislava, Slovakia, armed with only a cardboard sign and backpack. To do this we will be relying completely on the kindness of strangers for lifts (don't worry it's all very safe, Bummit has been going since 2003 and has yet to have an issue.)
Since it's inception, Bummit has raised over £1.1 million for various charities both across South Yorkshire, and the World.
THE CHARITIES WE ARE SUPPORTING:
- Snowdrop Project (provides long term support for survivors of human trafficking)
- City of Sanctuary Sheffield (supports asylum seekers and refugees through their 'Sanctuary Hub'
- Haven (supports children and young people affected by domestic abuse)
- Sheffield S6 food bank (provides emergency food parcels and essential supplies to individuals and families facing financial hardships)
- Iniciatíva Inakost' (leading LGBTQ+ charity based in Bratislava, which raises awareness, influences legislation and supports LGBTQ+ individuals facing discrimination)
This journey is sure to be a challenge, but I know that my plot-armour will pull through once again.
