Gloucester Half Marathon & 10k - 2025

I'm 19 years old and I'm currently at university completely my nursing degree.

Being a student nurse is quite mentally challenging. Despite this, it is still one of the best decisions I've made. Whilst doing my degree, I thought it would be a great idea to have something to do on the side to keep me busy. So on a whim I decided to sign up for this half marathon, even though I've not been on a run in 2 years. Running is a zone out time and during such a mentally stimulating course I need something to bring the calm. By signing up to this marathon I hope it will motivate me to find a love for running again.

There are a few other reasons I've signed up to this marathon. The main one being to donate to the amazing Breast Cancer Now charity who do amazing work with people undergoing cancer treatments etc. They spend critical time making sure these people get the right support and care that they require. They also investigate and research daily to help discover ways they can improve the lives of people effected by breast cancer through new treatment options. From my journey as a health care assistant to a student nurse, I have met many amazing people who have been battling breast cancer and they have stuck with me ever since. I'm doing this for anyone undergoing and battling breast cancer.

As well as this, I'm doing this to prove to myself that you really can do anything you put your mind to. I lack confidence in many areas of my life, so doing this is completely out of my comfort zone and will really push me to be confident. I'm not the best runner but I want to prove that you don't have to be the best of the best to achieve great things.
