Backward is my reality.

Hello my name is Joel! and I'm living in a *Backward World: 

My backward stride through the bustling city streets, is a symbol of "defiance" against regressive laws and prejudices. My activism stems from a deep commitment to justice, fueled by my personal experiences and a desire to create a better world. My year-round advocacy focuses on challenging backward laws, policies, and rhetoric worldwide, amplifying the voices of marginalized communities, including LGBTQ+ youth. As a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, My work is vital for young people navigating discriminatory environments. Through the years both me and my nonprofit have provided a beacon of hope, showing people that their identities are valid and deserving of respect. Through social media campaigns, public speaking engagements, and community organizing, we have engaged people with messages of inclusivity and equality. My impact is tangible, as i inspire well meaning people like you! to join the fight for progress! (Not regression) as I continue to push the envelope and challenge harmful assumptions and change policies and attitudes in various regions. My stance is daunting yet courageous and an overt reminder that true change often requires us to march backward, confronting the past to build a more equitable future.

Backstory:

In 2019 alongside volunteers/allies of my Nonprofit, we organised Nigerias first ever month-long, all inclusive pride protest in 15 locations. Fast forward to 2024, regression has taken centre-stage: "Not on my watch" I'm raising awareness for 365 causes everyday like I did in 2019-2020. I will be walking the talk (backwards).
