Town Clerk Charity Cycle
Barnstaple Town Clerk Rob Ward, together with son Daniel and daughter Rebecca, is cycling the length of Great Britain, and in doing so will be raising funds for the Mayor’s charities; North Devon Hospice, The Veterans Charity and Barnstaple In Bloom.
Rob and family will be setting off from Lands End on Saturday 16th September and all being well is scheduled to arrive in John O’Groats on Thursday 5th October.
They plan to pass through Barnstaple on Tuesday 19th September and anyone who wants to wish them well can see them at the clock tower in the town at approx. 9.30amthat day.
Rob Ward said, “I’ve always been a keen cyclist and like to cycle to work, but this time I’ll be going just that little bit further! It was my daughter’s idea originally, she seemed to think it would be a good way for the family to celebrate my 60th birthday! I can think of better ways, but I’m always up to taking on a challenge. I’m delighted that in doing so an opportunity has arisen to support the Mayor’s charities. Thank you to everyone for your support.”
Barnstaple Town Mayor Louisa York said, “What an epic journey this is, and I’m delighted that Rob is able to raise funds for our charities, and wish him and his family well. Please support them by making a donation. The charities do vital work in our community and rely on the generosity of the public to be able to survive.”
